A day in Parma with the Parma City Tour

In Parma there is a novelty for all those who wish to discover or rediscover the city and its artistic, cultural and historical beauties: from the beginning of December the Parma City Tour is available.

Parma City Tour is a guided tour with daily departure from the tourist office of Piazza Garibaldi, the heart of the city, which takes place in English and Italian and provides a two-hour walk with explanations of the main monuments and squares of the city and the entrance in two of the most representative places in Parma, the imposing Cathedral and the wonderful Baptistery.
The departure is scheduled (even last minute) every day from Monday to Sunday at 11 am, with a reply on Saturday afternoon at 3.30 pm: the appointment with your guide is at the IAT in Piazza Garibaldi where the visit will begin with explanations about the square and to the marvelous buildings that overlook it. The itinerary will continue touching the views and the most evocative places of the center, immersing yourself in the history and beauty of Parma listening to the wisdom and knowledge of the tourist guide that will accompany you. The focal point of the visit is the entrance into the most representative religious buildings of Parma that make Piazza Duomo one of the most beautiful Romanesque squares: the entrance to the Cathedral and the Baptistery will allow you to discover the masterpieces of two artists, Correggio and Antelami, who helped to make Parma a little gem.
The duration of the Parma City Tour is about two hours, but your day in Parma can continue with many other unforgettable experiences.
Do not forget, first of all, the gourmet side of our city: the Parma City Tour ends at around 1.00 pm, just in time for lunch! Now you just have to choose between one of the restaurants in the historic center of Parma City of Gastronomy and be pampered by the delights of the chefs and the food and wine excellences of our territory. With your stomach full your afternoon can continue in the name of art and culture.

Until February 24, in addition, the Governor’s Palace in Piazza Garibaldi hosts an interesting exhibition “From Expressionism to New Objectivity. Avant-garde in Germany” which proposes 40 works by the major representatives of this early twentieth century cultural and artistic trend, from Kirchner to Nolde, from Jawlensky to Macke, via Kandinsky and Marc.

And before leaving, do not forget to bring some Parma with you!
