Beautiful and good ideas for an autumn weekend in Parma

Autumn. In Parma, autumn is a mild, colorful season, scented with chestnuts, pumpkins, mushrooms and truffles. Autumn in Parma means broth for anolini that boils on the fire, the Ducal Park that is tinged with orange, it is a perfect time to spend a weekend visiting and discovering the city, its beauties and the many scheduled events.

Autumn 2021, with Parma Italian Capital of Culture, will be full of unmissable exhibitions. A few examples? Palazzo Tarasconi, recently renovated, houses Banksy- Building Castles in the Sky: on display the iconic works of one of the greatest exponents of world street-art. For music lovers, on the other hand, do not miss the Opera – il Palcoscenico della Società exhibition at Palazzo del Governatore: paintings, volumes, librettos, costumes and props tell the world of opera and theater.

To calmly visit museums, monuments, exhibitions and take part in events, the ideal is to spend at least a weekend in Parma: here is La Seconda Notte è Nostra. Thanks to this initiative, valid from 15 October to 31 December 2021, by booking a stay of at least two nights in the affiliated facilities, one night will be free! The Parma Card is also available which allows you to visit exhibitions and museums taking advantage of discounts and reductions, also available in many restaurants and shops. With the Parma Card you can also participate in the Parma City Tour taking advantage of a discount: the City Tour takes place every day at 10.30am (on Saturdays also at 3pm) and is a first-time tour of the city that allows you to discover its monuments and the main squares in the company of an expert guide.

But let’s not forget the greedy side of our Parma! In autumn on the tables of the restaurants and taverns of Parma City of Gastronomy, seasonal products are the masters. Mushrooms and truffles from our Apennines, pumpkins, chestnuts, new wine, sausages and cured meats: forest and cellar flavors, processed by the chefs to create delicious dishes such as fresh pasta with truffles and mushrooms, pumpkin tortelli, cotechini with cabbage or mashed potatoes. In autumn the province of Parma comes alive with festivals and events where you can taste seasonal products: throughout October the Black Truffle is the protagonist of the Parma weekends with the Bedonia and Calestano Truffle Festivals. In November, however, the Bassa Parmense hosts the most famous and gluttonous relay: the November Porc, the festival that takes place for four weekends in four municipalities, celebrating the tradition of pork cured meats and sausages, always hoping that there is fog!

If we have intrigued you with the beauties and goodness of Parma you just have to … pack your suitcase and go!
