Christmas in Parma opens with the inevitable appointment of the tree lighting in Piazza Garibaldi, December 8th: an afternoon of celebration and music to welcome Christmas and kick off many events. Starting from December 8th in Parma there will also be a novelty to discover the city in a new, pleasant and ecological way: the Christmas Train arrives! With this amusing means of transport tourists and citizens can discover Parma, in comfort and safety, thanks to an itinerary in the historical center and between the squares, monuments and the most beautiful and evocative streets.
During the downtown tour, don’t miss the Christmas Markets in Piazza Ghiaia, at weekends, with craft stalls, gift ideas, food specialties and moments of music and entertainment.
And for the little ones? The children will have a space entirely dedicated to them: a Christmas Den where to play, cook and … mess around, in the center! In the spaces of the Gastronomy Hub, in Piazzale della Pace, children will have fun learning thanks to Christmas and gastronomic themed workshops: they will learn the secrets of the festivities desserts, of the Parmigiano Reggiano, they will listen to fairy tales and they will be challenged with art. In addition, there will always be a space with books, games and … Pomocovo, a novelty for the little ones arriving directly from the Food Museums of Parma.
Do not miss the traditional events of the Christmas festivities such as the Crib Exhibition in the cloister of the splendid Church of the Annunziata, the Fair of Saint Lucia in Via Garibaldi, the traditional Procession of the Magi on the occasion of the Epiphany. As always we will greet the new year with the traditional free concert in Piazza Garibaldi: on the stage in Parma big names of Italian music such as Ron, Morgan, Andy, the orchestra of Piazza Vittorio and Massimo Cotto to welcome 2020, the year that will see Parma Italian Capital of Culture.
