TEATRO GIUSEPPE VERDI

TEATRO GIUSEPPE VERDI

Built between 1856 and 1868 and designed by architect Pier Luigi Montecchini, the theatre is hosted in the Rocca, the former fortress of the Pallavicino family sold to the Municipality of Busseto 1856.

A large staircase is adorned with a bust of Giuseppe Verdi by Giovanni Dupré while the ceiling medallions, representing Comedy, Tragedy, Melodrama and Romantic Drama were painted by Isacco Gioacchino Levi in 1865.

Nowadays the theatre, recently restored, is equipped with all modern facilities and can house 300 people and every year holds the opera season.
